Remarks Tabanus maedai, a new species is described from the northern part of Honshu Island. This species is closely related with T. toshiokai Murdoch and Takahasi, but T. maedai can be distinguished from T. toshiokai by its olive-yellowish body, larger badal callus and distinct middle callus on frons, as well as faint light olive markings on abdomen.
