| Remarks | Four species of the Japanese Xylosandrus Reitter are recognized. Their synonymies are Xylosandrus brevis (Eichhoff) (=Xyleborus cucullatus Blandford) and Xylisandrus germanus (Blandford) (=Xyleborus orbatus Blandford). Xylosandrus borealis Nobuchi is described as new to science. A key to the known Japanese species is provided. A list of host trees, notes on geographical distribution and biology, and an illustration of four species are included. |
