Remarks One new genus and five new species of the family Brentidae are described from Japan. Higonius was established for Higonius cilo sp. nov. from Higo, Kyushu, Japan. The following four new species were described: Zemioses celtis n. sp., Cyphagogus signipesn. sp., Jonthocerus nigripes n. sp., and Orychodes insignis n. sp. Zemioses celtis was taken on a large Celtis growing on the banks of the Kumagawa River. Cyphagogus signipes was collected in Higo and Yamato. Jonthocerus nigripes was found under the bark in the same way as Brontes and Dendrophagus. Orychodes insignis was founded in South Yezo. In addition, Baryrhynchus poweri (Roelofs, 1879) was recorded from Higo and Nara.
