Remarks General remarks on the Japanese Brentidae containing 30 species. A historical review of the family mainly from Asia, major literature, ecology, and a key to subfamilies and tribes are provided. Keys to Japanese genera are provided for the tribes Cyphagogini, Trachelizini, and Arrhenodini, respectively. In addition, keys to Japanese species are provided for the genera Cyphagogus, Trachelizus, Orychodes and Baryrhynchus, and subgenus Callipareius, respectively. A key to Japanese subgenera and species of Cerobates is also given. Diagnosis, ecological and/or distributional information, and habitus photographs are provided for each genus or species known from Japan.
