A taxonomic study of the subgenus Atranodes of the genus Platynus, with descriptions of Platynus (Atranodes) kyushuensis shikokuensis subsp. nov. from Ehime, Shikoku and Platynus (Atranodes) kyushuensis hondonus subsp. nov. from Tokyo, Honshu, Japan; diagnoses of Platynus (Atranodes) arisanus and Platynus (Atranodes) kyushuensis kyushuensis were given; a key to the Japanese species and subspecies was provided.
